What is Pranayama & why this forms the Foundational base of Yoga
Pranayama is the practice of conscious breathing, learning to observe, control, and harmonize the breath. In yoga, the breath is considered the bridge between the body and mind, and developing awareness of it is the first step in cultivating steadiness, focus, and energy. By starting with Pranayama, you build a strong foundation that supports all other aspects of yoga, from movement and posture to meditation and mental clarity. It provides the tools to approach practice safely, mindfully, and with greater awareness, making it an essential starting point for beginners .
By participating in this course, you will:
Understand what Pranayama is and why it is the starting point for all yoga practice.
Explore basic breath techniques that support calm, clarity, and focus.
Learn mindful yoga postures integrated with breath awareness.
Practice Yin and restorative sequences to enhance flexibility, balance, and relaxation.
Gain the foundations of yoga philosophy and how to apply it in everyday life.
Receive guidance on how to progress to more advanced courses after completing this program.
Earn a Yoga Alliance certificate on completion.
This course is particularly designed for beginners, as Pranayama is the first stage of yoga practice. By starting here, participants develop a strong foundation, and the Dhamma Centre will support and guide them to progress into more advanced yoga courses and deepen their practice.
