Self-Led Meditation Practice (Open Hall)

Sundays | 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Dhamma Centre, Colchester

A Quiet Space to Practise

Every Sunday morning, the Centre opens its doors for those who wish to sit in their own meditation practice. There is no instruction, no guidance, and no structure.

Just a quiet hall, held in silence, where you can arrive, sit, and practise as you need.

For some, this becomes a steady weekly rhythm.
For others, a place to deepen an existing practice without distraction.

  • This space is best suited to:

    • Those with an existing meditation practice

    • Individuals seeking silence without facilitation

    • Practitioners who value consistency and discipline

    • Anyone needing a dedicated environment away from home distractions

If you are completely new to meditation, we recommend beginning with our guided sessions or courses before attending.

    • Doors open at 7:50 AM

    • Practice begins informally from 8:00 AM

    • You may arrive and leave quietly at any point

    • The hall is held in noble silence throughout

    • No phones, conversations, or disruptions inside the space

There is no “start” or “end” bell — the responsibility for practice is entirely your own.

  • The Centre’s parking is able to accommodate upto 15 cars.

  • The hall is simple, warm, and intentionally uncluttered.

    • Chairs available for those who prefer not to sit on the floor

    • You are welcome to bring your own cushion or mat

    • Heating is provided during colder months

Give What You Can

There is no fixed fee. You are welcome to contribute an amount that feels appropriate and sustainable for you when booking your pass.

We ask that this is approached with mindfulness and honesty. a person may typically offer £5/sitting.

Running the Centre involves real, ongoing costs — heating, lighting, maintenance, and the care of the space. Your contribution helps ensure that this remains available not just for you, but for others who rely on it.

If you are able to give, your support directly sustains the continuity and quality of the space.

If you are not in a position to contribute at this time, you are still welcome.
